Updating Contact Details
You can mass update the contacts’ details in your database. It can be used, for example, to pseudonymize your database contacts. You can conceal any sensitive, personal data in your database that may serve as an identifier of a person.
To Update Contacts
- Create a contact update file. The contact update file must be in .CSV or .TXT format with UTF-8 encoding.
- Adding an identifier column: Make sure the first column’s first row includes the field which based on the system can identify which contacts to update. If it is a system field, then you need to insert two underscore characters (__) at the beginning, and two underscore characters (__) at the end of the field name. If it is a custom field, no additional characters are needed. On the example screenshot below, the identifier is the contact ID.
- Entering replacement data: In the second, third and other columns, enter the contact detail fields for which you want to update the details, for example, to mask. In the first row, after the “contact” word, enter the contact’s number, and the name for those fields of which you want to update the details. (For example, contact1.phone to update the contact’s phone number, contact2.email to update the contact’s email address, etc.). In the rows below, enter the new, substitute data.
- Save your file in CSV or TXT format.
- Uploading the contact update file: Select a project from the project list, then select Database > Import.
- Select Actions > Update database.
- An update wizard window pops up. Navigate to the CSV or TXT file you want to import and select it. Press Open.
- Select one or more dispositions. Only records terminated with the selected dispositions will be updated.
- Press Next, then Finish.
