Contact ID

Updating Contact Details

You can mass update the contacts’ details in your database. It can be used, for example, to pseudonymize your database contacts. You can conceal any sensitive, personal data in your database that may serve as an identifier of a person.

To Update Contacts

  1. Create a contact update file. The contact update file must be in .CSV or .TXT format with UTF-8 encoding.
  2. Adding an identifier column: Make sure the first column’s first row includes the field which based on the system can identify which contacts to update. If it is a system field, then you need to insert two underscore characters (__) at the beggining, and two underscore characters (__) at the end of the field name. If it is a custom field, no additional characters are needed. On the example screenshot below, the identifier is the contact ID.
  3. Entering replacement data: In the second, third and other columns, enter the contact detail fields for which you want to update the details, for example, to mask. In the first row, after the “contact” word, enter the contact’s number, and the name of those fields of which you want to update the details for. (For example, contact1.phone to update the contact’s phone number, contact2.email to update the contact’s email address, etc.). In the rows below, enter the new, substitue data.
  4. Save your file in CSV or TXT format.
